Update from Lew's mom

This was posted in the comment section, but I am putting it here too.

"Hi Everyone - Thanks for ALL the calls, emails etc. regarding our dear Lew. Unfortunately we've still had no luck catching him. We are pretty discouraged; it's been 6 weeks! This past weekend two wonderful citizens caught two beagles, called us and one family even drove the sweet beagle to our home but alas, neither was Lew! Thanks for continuing to look for him; a recent call we got still notes that he was seen two weeks ago in the Falls Road/Wooten area with his harness and collar still on but the harness seemed to be dragging and the retractable leash is now off. If it got caught somewhere that would certainly make sense. We do hope we find him but each day he is on the loose makes it harder for us to think of this as a real possibility. Nonetheless, thanks for all your positive energy and assistance in finding Lew."

  1. I am still looking for Lew: I am near the Falls Road/Wootton Parkway area often. Did you have any luck with the City of Rockville "Neighborhood Services" guy?
Do you know if he was spotted on the "Horizon Hill" side of Falls Road or the "St. Raphael's" side of Falls Road?

  2. Hi Lyda. I have called the police, neighborhood services, MCHS etc. EVERYONE has been really helpful in noting that if they see Lew, they'll call us. But nothing. Between the rude calls we are getting from people demanding that we take down the signs; the letter from a neighbor asking that we don't call looking for our dog; the stalker who called us late at night saying that he had our dog and then when we drove to the spot, threatened to jump us and the call from the zoning officer noting that it is illegal to post signs in Rockville, we've had enough. If you see our LOST BEAGLE signs, please take down what you can; it's been 8 weeks and although we sincerely appreciate your help, we are finally, sadly resigned to the fact that our dog is gone. We pray that he is safe, that if someone has captured him that he has a loving home and that if something has happened to him that he is not in distress; he is a very sweet and gentle spirit that needs and deserves love. Thanks to ALL of you who have been so kind, so neighborly and so giving of your time, energy, thoughts and well wishes. There is a yin and a yang to the planet and just as you have given it, your kindness will surely be returned to you one hundred fold. Wishing you Peace, Suzan

  3. Resigned but still hopeful. We'll continue to blog and post online and will post another round of flyers in public places around town. If you see him; direct him home to us, please.

  4. Please keep watching the shelters. Even though Lew is microchipped, there are times when they don't "find" it because it has moved. Good luck with your search, I've seen your signs around my home and keep my eyes open for him everytime I'm out.

People can be so cruel and disgusting. Liberal minded Rockville is no different, the cruelty is just in a more snooty, educated, arrogant tone. (see: South Park episode Smug Alert http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/1002 for a hilarious example) These sadists say bigger and more sophisticated words, and have more forceful threats, but it is still barbaric and unsympathetic cruelty.

You should post his name, address, and phone number. Then people can give him the same bad karma that he gave you.
