SIGHTING: 4/25/09 6:00pm

Someone called to report that they had just seen Lew around Wootten Pkwy and Falls Rd at 6pm on Saturday. The owner went out right away to try to find him, but he is elusive. Based on this sighting, it does appear the Lew is hanging out and circling in that general area. We are going to get more flyers up there, set up some feeding stations and put the trap over there. Keep your fingers crossed.

  2. Wooton Parkway/Falls Road is also still within the City Limits of Rockville, which has a Neighborhood Services department (an animal control officer). Have you called the City and told them to keep an extra eye out for Lew? They are usually pretty responsive.

  3. Thank you, Debbie. Lyda - I haven't contacted the Rockville police directly; I have been in touch with the County, mainly but will call the police tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!

  4. Have you checked the wooded area that follows the Watts Branch creek? It runs through developments like Fox Hills West (off Falls Rd. and Falls Chapel Way) and snakes through other subdivisions. Dogs seem to love getting into those woods , and then they get lost and wind up miles from home. That same wooded area also runs fairly near Wooten Parkway near the high school and the Giant shopping center. There' s little park off of Wooten, and if you follow it further in, it leads you to that wooded area and you can follow pathes in there, along the creek, that can lead you all the way to houses in the Glen Road area. That might be a good place to look.

My little beagle disappeared for a few days when we first got her (she was a rescue dog, about a year-and-a-half old and an escape artist). I filed a report with the Mont. Co. shelter on Rothgeb (off Gude Dr.). Luckily a homeowner a few miles away, off Glen Rd. noticed a little beagle barking under a tree in her yard. A neighbor who was more of a dog person took her in over the weekend, called the shelter on Monday, and they realized she matched the description in the report I'd filed. So it ended well. I was sure at the start that we'd never see her again, but she's still with us, 9 years later! I'm pretty sure she wandered through that Watts Branch woods and got lost. So Best of luck in finding Lew!
